Empowering Your Journey
I'm Dora! Welcome! You are taking this brave first step. Whether you have been to therapy before, or the first time, it can be nerve-wracking. Therapy is not a "one size Fitz all"( See what I did there?) Just like any relationship, it can't be forced.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker serving clients in Florida and Virginia, I specialize in offering therapeutic support to individuals within the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as those affiliated with the military, first responders, nurses, teachers, and shift workers. (As a military veteran and current military spouse, shit happens, so I get it!) Many seek me out for individual therapy, particularly focusing on addressing trauma, including religious trauma, vicarious trauma, stress management, and burnout. Additionally, I find fulfilment in assisting clients interested in self-compassion, mindfulness, and self-discovery, fostering a safe and affirming environment in each session where clients can explore their vulnerabilities comfortably.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), where I help clients gain insight into the intricate interplay between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I educate them on how their thoughts influence their self-perception and behavior, empowering them to recognize and modify negative thought patterns contributing to negative perspectives. For individuals struggling with past traumas, I provide techniques to support emotional regulation and being present in the moment.
My therapeutic style reflects the warmth, humor, and non-judgmental atmosphere akin to Dunder Mifflin's Scranton branch. Drawing inspiration from Michael Scott's belief in the importance of a positive work environment, I hold that everyone deserves to prioritize their mental health. Like "The Office," I aim to offer high-quality therapeutic services to clients of all identities, guiding them toward a positive mindset shift.
Encouraging clients to embrace their authentic selves, I create a space reminiscent of the Dunder Mifflin conference room, where open dialogue and authenticity are not only accepted but encouraged. Just as the characters in "The Office" find solace and camaraderie in their workplace antics, my clients find comfort and authenticity in my therapeutic approach, knowing they can be themselves without fear of judgment, much like the quirky and relatable employees of Dunder Mifflin.
